Galzigbahn

The Galzigbahn cable car at Sankt Anton am Arlberg was first built in 1937, one of the earliest aerial cableways in the Austrian Alps, and runs to the Galzig plateau at 2,085 meters. The Arlberg is the region where Hannes Schneider developed the ski technique that became the foundation of modern ski instruction in the 1920s; the Galzigbahn was part of the infrastructure that supported that reputation. Current cable car rebuilt 2009; the original 1937 station structure is still visible at the base. Sankt Anton is 1 hour by train from Innsbruck.
