Festung Kufstein is a 13th-century hilltop fortress at the Bavarian-Tyrol border above the Inn river, housing the world’s largest open-air organ. The Heldenorgel (Heroes’ Organ) with 4,948 pipes was installed in 1931 as a WWI memorial and still plays every day at noon, audible across Kufstein from outside the fortress walls. Admission EUR 12 for adults, EUR 7 for children, includes the regional museum and funicular. Open April to October, 09:00 to 17:00. Combine with a walk through Kufstein old town and views of the Kaisergebirge.
