The Dreifaltigkeitssäule (Trinity Column) on the Marktplatz in Spitz an der Donau is a c.1680 Baroque plague column in one of the Wachau’s main wine villages. Free and always accessible. Spitz is on the Wachau boat route (DDSG/Brandner stop between Melk and Krems) and the Donauradweg cycling path, making it a natural stop on any Wachau river day. The Marktplatz and the village are most worthwhile combined with the Tausendeimerberg vineyard walk and the view toward Ruine Aggstein above.
