Christkindl Church

Also known as Wallfahrtskirche Christkindl

Every December, the Austrian postal service sets up a special branch inside the village of Christkindl to stamp outgoing letters with a postmark that collectors across the world actively seek.

The Wallfahrtskirche Christkindl is a 1708 Baroque pilgrimage church outside Steyr built around a wax Christ-child figure believed to have healing powers. Every Advent season, the Austrian postal service operates a special branch here for letters addressed “to Christkindl,” with a sought-after postmark for collectors. Free entry; church open year-round. The Advent post office runs late November through December 26. West of Steyr via Christkindlweg.
