The Arkadenstiegen in Morbisch am See are an architectural feature unique in Austria: whitewashed houses with external wooden arcaded stairways reflecting Pannonian rather than Alpine building tradition. The village was part of Hungary until 1921. Free to walk. Accessible by bus from Eisenstadt (30 minutes). Combine with the Neusiedler See lakeshore and the operetta festival stage (summer).
