The Ankogelbahn takes you from the Mallnitz valley floor in Carinthia to 2,635 meters at the top station, from which serious alpine routes continue toward the Ankogel summit at 3,252 meters. This is not a panorama terrace cable car; it is mountain access infrastructure for hikers and mountaineers in the High Tauern range.

Return tickets around EUR 20-28; operates summer season, late June to late September. Mallnitz is accessible by Tauernbahn train (the line runs through the mountain tunnel below) or by car from Spittal an der Drau. The valley is one of the quietest in the national park. Combine with a Grossglockner High Alpine Road day if you have a car.
