The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna holds Hieronymus Bosch’s Last Judgment triptych, one of the most important works of Flemish medieval painting outside the Prado in Madrid. The Academy is also where Adolf Hitler applied twice and was rejected, a footnote the institution handles matter-of-factly. The gallery is small, never crowded, and extraordinarily concentrated.
