The Zwieselalm gondola rises above Gosau in the Salzkammergut to the level of the Dachstein’s northern face, giving a direct view of the glacier and the vertical limestone wall that the valley-level Gosauseen photograph only partially captures. The lower Gosausee is accessible on foot from the gondola base and gives the classic north-face reflection in morning light. Gosau is about 30 km from Bad Ischl; car or limited bus service. Gondola operates in summer and winter; check dachstein-salzkammergut.at for hours and prices. Half to full day. Combine with Hallstatt for a full Salzkammergut inner-core day.
