The lakeside promenade at Strobl, the quiet village at the eastern end of the Wolfgangsee, runs along the shore with a 19th-century Musikpavillon (bandstand) at its center, the kind of iron and wood structure that appeared at every Austro-Hungarian spa and resort town from the 1860s onward as a physical token of cultured leisure.

The lakeside promenade at Strobl on the eastern Wolfgangsee includes a 19th-century Musikpavillon, one of the iron-and-wood bandstands that Habsburg Kur resorts installed on every promenade from the 1860s onward. Strobl is the quietest of the three Wolfgangsee villages and the most genuinely local in character. The promenade is free, uncrowded, and takes about 20 minutes to walk. It works best as a starting or ending point for the Wolfgangsee boat service: departing from Strobl heading west puts the Schafberg mountain in front of you as you approach St. Wolfgang, which is the right way to arrive. Bus from Salzburg to Strobl takes about 50 minutes.
