Wimbachklamm

The Wimbachklamm is a short gorge walk near Ramsau in the Berchtesgaden National Park, carved by the Wimbach torrent through the Reiter Alm limestone. It runs for about a kilometer along a secured path above the churning water, takes around 30 minutes to walk through, and is accessible to anyone who can handle a narrow boardwalk path.

The Wimbachklamm is a limestone gorge walk near Ramsau im Berchtesgadener Land, just inside the German side of the Salzburg border. A secured boardwalk path runs about a kilometer through the gorge cut by the Wimbach torrent, taking roughly 30 minutes to walk through. It is easy enough for most visitors including children, and dramatic enough to be worth the small entrance fee of a couple of euros. The gorge is the entry to the longer Wimbachtal valley hike toward the Watzmann massif, which adds several hours for walkers who want to continue. It is a natural pairing with the Königssee, which is about 15 kilometers away, and both are practical day trips from Salzburg. The gorge path is open May to October and can close in high water; check conditions if visiting in spring snowmelt.
