The Umgang Bregenzerwald connects contemporary architecture across the villages of the Bregenzerwald, a valley in Vorarlberg that has produced some of the most significant contemporary building in Europe over the past 30 years. The trails link schools, farmhouses, dairies, and community buildings built by the Werkraum Bregenzerwald cooperative using local timber and materials. Free to walk at all times; the Werkraum Haus in Andelsbuch is the starting point. Guided tours available through vorarlberg.travel. The valley is 15 km from Bregenz by road.
