The menu is traditional Veneto: pastissada de caval (Verona’s signature braised horse stew), bigoli con le sarde, risotto all’Amarone. The wine list is deep on Valpolicella and Amarone from the hills just west of the city. The dining room is plain, the service is old-school Italian, and the prices are reasonable for the historic center. Locals still eat here regularly, which is not nothing in a city as tourist-heavy as Verona. Book ahead for dinner, especially during the summer opera season at the Arena.
