Thermal Dunstbad

The Thermal Dunstbad in Bad Hofgastein is a natural thermal steam bath drawing on the Gastein valley’s radon-bearing thermal springs. Unlike conventional thermal pools, the Dunstbad involves sitting in thermal steam chambers where low-level radon gas circulates, a treatment tradition long associated with respiratory and rheumatic conditions that is unique to the Gastein valley. Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein are the only places in Austria where this treatment is practiced at scale.
