Stift Wilten

A Premonstratensian abbey adjacent to the Basilika Wilten, with a distinctive gold-and-black interior unlike any other Austrian church. The abbey was founded in the 12th century on the site of the Roman settlement Veldidena. The Wiltener Saengerknaben (Wilten Boys' Choir) are based here, one of the oldest choirs in Austria.

Stift Wilten is a Premonstratensian abbey at Klostergasse 7 in Innsbruck-Wilten, founded in the 12th century on the site of the Roman settlement Veldidena and home to the Wiltener Saengerknaben boys’ choir, one of Austria’s oldest continuously active choirs. The Baroque abbey church interior is distinctive for its gold-and-black color scheme. The adjacent Basilika Wilten (yellow Rococo facade) is a separate building worth seeing on the same visit. About 1 km south of the Innsbruck old town center.
