Stift St. Peter (St. Peter's Abbey)

The oldest continuously existing monastery in the German-speaking world. Founded by Saint Rupert of Salzburg around 696 AD. The Petersfriedhof cemetery cuts into the Moenchsberg cliff face with some of the most atmospheric grave plots in Austria; the catacombs are accessible by steep stairs.
