historic building in Bad Radkersburg

Stadtmauer

Bad Radkersburg's medieval city walls are among the best-preserved in Styria, surviving largely intact because the town's decline after the Austro-Ottoman wars removed the economic pressure to demolish them for building space.

Bad Radkersburg’s medieval city walls are among the best-preserved in Styria, surviving largely intact on the Mur river at the Slovenian border. The walls, towers, and gate structures ring most of the old town, which also has a well-preserved Renaissance Hauptplatz. Free to walk the outer circuit; plan 1-1.5 hours including the main gates. By car from Graz about 1 hour. The town also has thermal spa facilities (Bad Radkersburg). Combine with the Suedsteirische Weinstrasse wine road for a full southeastern Styria day.
