Sportgastein is the high altitude arm of the Gastein Valley ski network, reaching 2,686 meters in genuinely open alpine terrain at the valley’s upper end. A toll road from Bad Gastein gives access to a quieter ski area with longer-lasting powder and fewer crowds than the main Stubnerkogel lifts below. The road is sometimes closed after heavy snowfall, so check conditions on skigastein.com before driving up. Included with the Gastein Valley ski pass. Best combined with a day on the Stubnerkogel for a full Gastein ski experience.
