The Skyspace Lech at Oberlech is a James Turrell light installation (2018) that frames the alpine sky through an oculus and uses programmed LED sequences at dawn and dusk to alter color perception. Turrell has created over 80 Skyspace works worldwide; this is the only one in Austria. Free access via the Lecherbach gondola from Lech village. The dawn and dusk sequences are each about 30 minutes. Check skyspace-lech.com for current schedule. Combine with Lech’s other cultural programming; the installation is most meaningful experienced at its intended hours rather than during daylight.
