The Seebensee at 1,657 meters in the Tirolean Wetterstein range is a small alpine lake with direct views toward the Zugspitze summit. Reachable in 2 to 3 hours on foot from Ehrwald, or via a descent from the Zugspitze cable car plateau. The lake freezes in winter and turns turquoise-green in summer from glacial meltwater. No facilities at the lake itself; the Ganghofer Hutte on the approach trail provides food and water. Hiking season May to October; free to visit.
