The Schlossbergbahn funicular in Graz has been climbing the Schlossberg since 1894, making it the first electric funicular built in Austria. The ride from the riverside station near the Hauptplatz to the summit park takes a few minutes and offers good views of the city during the ascent. Tickets cost approximately EUR 2.50 one way. The companion Schlossberglift, a modern glass lift drilled 77 meters through the rock face, was added in 2000 and offers a different experience on the same route. Both operate daily; the funicular from approximately 8:00 to 23:00 in summer.
