Postalm

The Postalm is the largest alpine pasture plateau in Austria, stretching at around 1,200 meters between Abtenau and Strobl on the Wolfgangsee. About 75 square kilometers of rolling high meadow, still used for summer cattle grazing, with views across the Salzkammergut lake district. Free access by car; the toll road connects Abtenau (15 min) to Strobl (25 min). No direct public transport. Cycling and hiking routes cross the plateau; mountain huts provide rest stops. Cross-country ski trails in winter.
