The Piazza dei Signori was Verona’s civic seat from the Scaliger lords through the Venetian period, separated from the market bustle of Piazza delle Erbe by a short covered passage. Dante Alighieri’s statue marks his time here in exile (1303 onward) as a guest of the Scaliger court. The 15th-century Loggia del Consiglio is one of the finest early Renaissance buildings in the Veneto. Free and always open. Combine with Piazza delle Erbe directly next door.
