The Gothic parish church of St. Oswald crowns Alpbach, the Tyrolean village once designated the most beautiful in Austria for its intact traditional architecture of flower-covered farmhouses clustered around the hillside church. The village is accessible by cable car from Reith im Alpbachtal on the Inn valley rail line. The European Forum Alpbach fills the village each August. St. Oswald’s church is the visual anchor of the village and free to enter. Most atmospheric in the morning before day visitors arrive.
