The Patscherkofelbahn rises to 1,964 meters on the south side of Innsbruck, facing the Nordkette from across the Inn valley. The 1976 Olympics downhill was run here, but the mountain’s main draw today is the Zirbenweg, a 5 km ridge trail through ancient Swiss stone pine stands with panoramic views and minimal elevation change. It’s the relaxed counterpoint to the dramatic Nordkette: same altitude, completely different character. Departs from Igls, accessible from Innsbruck by bus or tram.
