The Obersee is a small lake at the far end of the Berchtesgaden National Park, reachable by electric boat on the Koenigsee to St. Bartholomae and then a 45-minute walk. The Roethbach waterfall, approximately 470 meters high, drops directly into the lake’s northern end from the Steinernes Meer karst plateau above. The Obersee is quieter than the Koenigsee but requires the boat trip to reach; combine both for a full-day visit from Berchtesgaden. Always accessible; free to walk.
