The Nordkettenbahnen cable car system connects central Innsbruck to the Hafelekar summit at 2,334 meters in about 20 minutes. The Hungerburgbahn funicular section uses four Zaha Hadid-designed stations (completed 2007), organic glacier-form structures in white glass and concrete that are among the finest examples of contemporary architecture in Austria. The Seegrube terrace at 1,905 meters looks down the Inntal valley; the Hafelekar summit is the northern edge of the Karwendel Alps with panoramas extending to the Grossglockner and Zugspitze. The Goetheweg ridge trail starts at Hafelekar. The Innsbruck Card covers unlimited cable car rides and is worth it for multi-day stays. Congress station is a 5-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof.
