Munich's Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) on Marienplatz was built between 1867 and 1909 in Neo-Gothic style, occupying most of the north side of the main square.

Munich’s Neues Rathaus (1867-1909) on Marienplatz is a Neo-Gothic civic palace that occupies most of the square’s north side. The Glockenspiel in the tower facade has 43 bells and 32 life-size figures performing at 11:00, 12:00, and (summer) 17:00. Free to watch from the square. U-Bahn and S-Bahn at Marienplatz. Arrive a few minutes before showtime to avoid being trapped in the crowd that forms directly below the tower.
