The Nationaltheater München at Max-Joseph-Platz 2 is home to the Bavarian State Opera and houses the world premiere legacy of four Wagner operas commissioned by Ludwig II: Tristan und Isolde (1865), Die Meistersinger (1868), Das Rheingold (1869), and Die Walküre (1870). The neoclassical building has been rebuilt twice after destruction, most recently between 1958 and 1963. Standing room tickets from EUR 14 are available 90 minutes before performance.
