The Maiskogel is Kaprun’s family mountain, reached by the MK Maiskogelbahn cable car to 1,675 meters. Views from the top cover the Zell am See lake basin and the Kaprun reservoir dams. The mountain has hiking trails and a natural toboggan run in summer, and beginner-intermediate ski runs in winter. It is the gentler alternative to the nearby Kitzsteinhorn glacier and a good choice for families or visitors who want alpine panoramas without the full glacier experience. The cable car station is in Kaprun village, 7 kilometers south of Zell am See.
