The world’s largest intact historical armory, containing 32,000 pieces of armor and weapons in a four-story Baroque building on Herrengasse. The collection was assembled in 1644 to equip Styrian forces against Ottoman incursion; in 1749 the Empress tried to dissolve it, Styrian officials successfully argued for an exception, and nothing was moved.
