Lake Zurich

Also known as Zurichsee

The crescent-shaped lake stretching southeast from the city center defines Zurich's waterfront character. A short boat cruise or a walk along the promenades on either shore is essential. The Zurichhorn park on the east bank and the Buerkliplatz departure point on the west bank are the main access points.

The 40 km crescent-shaped lake defines Zurich’s waterfront and is clean enough to swim in throughout summer. The main departure point is Buerkliplatz, 5 minutes from the train station by tram. Boat cruises to lakeside towns run from both shores; schedules at zsg.ch. The Zurichhorn park on the east bank is the quieter promenade alternative. Always accessible; free to walk.
