Kunsthaus Graz

A biomorphic "Friendly Alien" building by Peter Cook and Colin Fournier, opened in 2003 for Graz's year as European Capital of Culture. The building is the statement; the interior hosts rotating contemporary art exhibitions with no permanent collection. The BIX media facade on the exterior displays light art installations at night.

The Kunsthaus Graz at Lendkai 1 is a biomorphic “Friendly Alien” building by Peter Cook and Colin Fournier (2003), one of the most discussed contemporary buildings in Austria, with a glowing BIX media facade and no permanent collection: the building is the exhibit, hosting major rotating contemporary art shows. Admission approximately EUR 10 to 14; check museum-joanneum.at for current shows and hours. Graz Hauptbahnhof is 20 minutes on foot. Do not miss the Needle rooftop terrace with its view of the Schlossberg clock tower across the Mur river.
