The Koppenbrullerhohle near Obertraun is Austria’s largest active water cave, carved by the Koppenbach stream through Dachstein limestone, with guided tours May to September. Admission approximately EUR 10 to 14; check dachstein-salzkammergut.com for hours and combination tickets. Obertraun is accessible by train or ferry from Hallstatt. Combine with the Dachstein cable car and ice cave higher on the mountain for a full Dachstein cave day.

The Koppenbrullerhohle is Austria's largest water cave, carved through the Dachstein limestone by the Koppenbach stream at the point where the Koppental valley meets the Hallstattersee near Obertraun. "Brullen" in the local dialect means to roar, a reference to the noise the underground stream makes as it exits the cave entrance.
