Karlsplatz Stachus
The Karlsplatz, universally called Stachus by Munich residents (after a 17th-century beer garden operator named Eustachius Föderl who ran a tavern at the site), is the semicircular square at the western edge of Munich's pedestrian zone, anchored by the remaining Karlstor gate tower (one of the three gates of the medieval city wall).
