Bad Gastein’s cliff-side Kaiser-Wilhelm-Promenade connects the Belle Époque spa town’s hotels, galleries, and viewpoints above the Gasteiner Ache waterfall, which drops 85 meters through the center of town. Named for Kaiser Wilhelm I, who visited in the 1880s when Bad Gastein was the thermal spa of European royalty. Free and always accessible; allow 30 to 60 minutes for the full walk. Bad Gastein is 1.5 hours by train from Salzburg on the Tauernbahn.
