The Huttwinkltal is the upper arm of the Rauris valley, rising through the Hohe Tauern toward the Goldberggruppe massif and the Sonnblick meteorological observatory at 3,106m. Gold was mined in this valley for centuries; the former processing settlement of Kolm-Saigurn at the valley head still has historical buildings. The Sonnblick station has operated continuously since 1886, one of the longest climate records of any alpine observatory. The valley is accessible by road from Rauris village, which is reached by bus from Zell am See. Combine with Rauris town and its gold mining heritage buildings.
