The Hotel Goldener Hirsch has operated on Salzburg’s Getreidegasse since the 15th century, in a Gothic building 30 meters from Mozart’s birthplace. Known as the Salzburg Festival’s unofficial hotel, it was the preferred accommodation for conductors, soloists, and festival patrons through the 20th century. Every room is individually furnished with antiques. Luxury pricing (EUR 300+ per night; much higher during Festival season in late July-August). Part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection. Getreidegasse 37. Check goldenerhirsch.com for rates. Book far ahead for Festival weeks.
