Hirschgarten

The Hirschgarten claims to be the world's largest beer garden, with capacity for roughly 8,000 people, and unlike Munich's other famous beer gardens it sits in a proper park with a historic deer enclosure rather than in the middle of the city. The deer have been here since Elector Karl Theodor established the grounds as a royal hunting area around 1780.

S-Bahn S5/S6 to Laim then 15-minute walk, or tram 16/17 to Romanplatz. More local crowd than the Englischer Garten beer garden. Combine with a walk through Nymphenburg Palace grounds next door.
