Herrengasse

The Herrengasse in Graz is the main shopping and pedestrian street of the Altstadt, running between the Hauptplatz and the Platz am Eisernen Tor. The Baroque palaces that line it include the former Styrian provincial parliament building and several merchant houses that now contain cafes, boutiques, and the Kastner & Ohler department store.

The Landhaus at No. 16, a 16th-century Renaissance palace with an arcaded courtyard, is the architectural highlight: one of the finest Renaissance buildings in Central Europe, and easy to enter through a ground-floor arch. Always accessible as a public street. Tram 1, 3, 6, or 7 to Hauptplatz.
