Gustav Klimt Zentrum

The Gustav Klimt Zentrum in Kammer-Schoerfling on the Attersee opened in 2012 at the lakeside location where Klimt rented houses and painted from a rowboat during his 16 summers at the lake (1900 to 1916). The center holds reproductions of the Attersee paintings and documentation of Klimt’s working method: he selected compositions through a mounted spyglass from the water, painting square canvases of specific lake-surface rectangles. Admission fee; open seasonally. Visit before the Gustav Klimt Themenweg walking trail, which connects the 26 sites across the western shore where the paintings were made.
