The Greifvogelwarte on the Hochalm above Rauris is a raptor center with flight demonstrations featuring eagles, falcons, and owls against the Hohe Tauern backdrop. Reach the Hochalm by lift from the upper Rauris valley, which is 30 minutes by bus from Zell am See. Demonstrations run at fixed times; check before arriving. The Rauris valley is also one of the original release sites for the bearded vulture, reintroduced to the Hohe Tauern after being hunted to extinction in the Eastern Alps in the 19th century. Combine with the gold panning site at Goldwaschplatz Bodenhaus in the same valley.
