The front Gosausee near Gosau offers the most dramatic mirror reflection of the Dachstein glacier in the Salzkammergut. A flat, 1-hour circular walk rings the front lake. The rear Gosausee requires an additional 1.5-hour hike into wilder terrain. Free to walk; parking fee applies. By car from Gosau village (4 km); Gosau village is accessible by bus from Bad Ischl. Arrive before 9 AM in summer for undisturbed reflection photography. Pairs naturally with Hallstatt (20 km northeast) and the Dachstein ice caves above.
