Gosausee

The front Gosausee with its mirror reflection of the Dachstein glacier is one of the most photographed landscapes in Austria. A flat, accessible lakeside walk circles the front lake (1 hour). The rear Gosausee is reached by a further 1.5-hour hike into wilder terrain.

The rear Gosausee requires an additional 1.5-hour hike into wilder terrain. Free to walk; parking fee applies. By car from Gosau village (4 km); Gosau village is accessible by bus from Bad Ischl. Arrive before 9 AM in summer for undisturbed reflection photography. Pairs naturally with Hallstatt (20 km northeast) and the Dachstein ice caves above.
