The Elisabethpromenade and Kaiserlicher Kurpark are the riverside spa gardens of Bad Ischl, where Emperor Franz Joseph I spent 65 consecutive summers (1849-1914) and from whose villa he signed the 1914 declaration of war. Free and always accessible. Franz Lehar composed The Merry Widow at his Bad Ischl villa; the Kaiservilla (guided tours available) sits within or adjacent to the park.
