The Dominikanerkirche at Dominikanergasse in Friesach is a Gothic church from 1255, at 72 meters the longest in Carinthia. Gothic here means the medieval style: pointed arches, ribbed stone vaulting, tall nave. The church is part of a remarkably preserved medieval town center that includes a still-water moat (one of very few in Central Europe), intact town walls, and multiple castle ruins. Friesach is 45 minutes from Klagenfurt on the Graz rail line. Free entry; generally open daily. Walk the full medieval center as well as the church.
