The Domenig Steinhaus at Steindorf am Ossiacher See is the lifelong personal project of Carinthian architect Günter Domenig (1934-2012), built from 1986 onward as his private residence and architectural experiment. The structure grows from the lake shore with raw concrete extensions reaching toward the water, resisting symmetry and conventional resolution. Domenig was one of Austria’s most significant 20th-century architects; his other major works include the Zentralsparkasse in Vienna and the Nazi Documentation Center in Nuremberg.
