Cantina Do Spade Venice

Also known as Cantina Do Spade

Cantina Do Spade has been documented in the alleys near the Rialto market since 1488, which makes it one of the oldest functioning bacari in Venice. Casanova reportedly drank here.

Cantina Do Spade is one of Venice’s oldest bacari, documented since 1488 in an alley near the Rialto market. The format is classic: stand at the bar, order an ombra (small house wine), and graze from the cicchetti counter of baccala mantecato, sarde in saor, and polpette. Sit-down meals are also available. Prices are among the most reasonable in Venice (cicchetti EUR 1.50-3 each, wine EUR 2-4 per glass). Five minutes on foot from the Rialto Bridge in the San Polo sestiere. Arrive at 11am or 6pm for the freshest selection.
