Burgruine Rauheneck above Baden bei Wien has an unusual triangular tower and forms part of a pair with Burgruine Rauhenstein further up the Helenental valley. Both are accessible on the Helenental walking route, free to visit year-round. Baden is served by tram from Vienna Oper. Allow 2-3 hours for the full valley circuit including both ruins.

Burgruine Rauheneck above Baden bei Wien has a triangular tower, an unusual defensive form that gave the castle its distinctive silhouette on the ridge above the Helenental valley. Together with Burgruine Rauhenstein further up the valley, it formed a pair of fortifications that controlled the approach to Baden from the south.
