Blauer See

The Blauer See (Blue Lake) above Mellau in the Bregenzerwald gets its name from the vivid blue-green color produced by the karst water chemistry of the Bregenzerwald limestone. It sits at around 1,100 meters above the Mellau valley, surrounded by forest, and is accessible as a hiking destination from the Mellau cable car terminus.
