The Blauer See above Mellau in the Bregenzerwald is a small mountain lake with vivid blue-green karst water, accessible by cable car from Mellau and approximately 1-2 hours hiking. Free access. Mellau is served by bus from Dornbirn in the Bregenzerwald.

The Blauer See (Blue Lake) above Mellau in the Bregenzerwald gets its name from the vivid blue-green color produced by the karst water chemistry of the Bregenzerwald limestone. It sits at around 1,100 meters above the Mellau valley, surrounded by forest, and is accessible as a hiking destination from the Mellau cable car terminus.
