The Wiltener Basilika in Innsbruck’s Wilten suburb is one of the finest Rococo church interiors in Austria: white walls, gold stucco, and ceiling frescoes by Matthaus Gunther that give the space a luminous, almost theatrical quality. Completed in 1756. Free entry; open daily. Take tram line 1 from the Innsbruck Altstadt to the Bergiselstrasse stop (about 10 minutes). Combine with the adjacent Stift Wilten monastery and the Bergisel Ski Jump viewpoint for a half-day south of the city center.
