Bahnhofstrasse is Zurich’s central commercial spine, running 1.4 km from the main train station to Lake Zurich. It is known internationally as one of the world’s most expensive shopping streets, though for most visitors its main function is as the walking route between the station and the lake. Trams 6, 7, 11, and 13 run along its length. The lower end near Buerkliplatz connects to lake boat departures. For more interesting browsing, the Niederdorf quarter on the east bank of the Limmat is the better option.
